Flamingo lagoon, Erongo Region, Namibia

4.5 (20 reviews) Spent < 1 hour Ranking #4 in Walvis Bay Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas

Respect nature and fellow tourists, and keep to the walkway!

Lovely to see the flamingoes up close; it is easy to forget that these are actually wild birds and do not like people getting too close. So keep to the tarred walkway (Lagoon Promenade Road) so that everybody can enjoy these magnificent birds going on with their daily things. The walkway goes from Esplande Park right up to Pelican Bay Hotel, about 3.5km

    Haven for flamingos
How enjoyable it was to just sit and watch countless flamingos flying, landing, soaring, taking off, eating... you know, just being good ol' flamingos. We also saw a lot of other bird species, including black-winged stilts, sandpipers, blacksmith lapwings, and more. Great spot for bird lovers!

    Love flamingos now!
How fun! Internet says there are over 40,000 flamingos in this area, and it was so cool to see pink as far as the eye can see. Loved their little legs pumping up and down to stir up the mud and their food... just fun to watch. Really relaxing but really windy the day we were there.
