Komodo Islands Trekking & Snorkeling
We planned for this Komodo Island tour years ago and alas, we made it. We managed to get a flight through the wonderful efforts of Garuda Airline Booking Services based Senayan City Mall. Booking a Komodo Island tour was another hurdle but a quick and speedy response from Louis Komodo Tours resolved our problem. On arrival in Labuan Bajo with great anticipations as well as worries. We are recreational swimmers and knew nothing about swimming and snorkelling in the ocean waters plus the fear of watching the Fearsome Komodo Dragons. Our Guide, Aloysius Soehartim Karya (nickname, Louis) was the perfect Guide for the trip. We couldn't ask for a better Guide than him. On arrival at the airport and throughout the 3 Days Trekking and Snorkelling tour, he was always punctual, courteous, helpful and friendly. Day 1 was hiking and trekking on Labuan Bajo.visited Batu Cermin Cave and the different sights of this island. Day 2, we boarded a boat specially booked for the 2 of us. First island to visit for snorkelling.what an experience especially for my wife. We had a fear of swimming in the sea. Putting on a floating vest and with a life buoy, Louis pulled and guide us snorkelling and enjoying the sights of the Corals. What an exhilarating and memorable experience. At one point during the snorkelling, Louis was the perfect hero. A lady swimmer was having difficulty or sudden panic attack with the strong current dragging her out to the sea. He saw the dangerous situation and quickly guided her back to the shore. From that point, we knew that we had picked the right person for this trip of a lifetime. Next was trekking and looking for the fearsome Komodo Dragons. We were not disappointed. We saw the huge dragons and took some close up pictures. July and August are the mating months for this animal and we managed to see a pregnant female dragon. Louis was very knowledgeable about the Komodo Dragons as he worked as Komodo National Park Nature Guide for couple of years preparing himself for his present job. He explained the whole story and Legend of the Komodo Dragons. Next more swimming and snorkelling. What a view snorkelling the Crystal Clear water and observing the Corals and the Colourful Fishes swimming around. Day 3 was trekking and looking for more fearsome Komodo Dragons on different island. Louis brought us to swim on one of the Best Beaches in the world. Crystal Clear water in Pink Beaches. We had so much fun and thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic holiday. We even managed to find and see Manta Rays. Our Boat Captain located and pointed to us some dolphins close to the boat. Another highlight of the trip was the fine cooking of the cook, Rio. Simple traditional seafood but his cooking was very good. The food was not only tasty but he made an effort to decorated the dishes. Thank you, Louis for being the Perfect Guide. Lots of long lasting and happy memories when we returned back to Canada. We will highly recommend you to our friends and families who intend to visit Komodo Islands.
