Batu Cermin Cave, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

Great place for a short visit. Not far off the beaten path.

I would say this place while not a MUST SEE was certainly convenient to go. It's about 15-20 min from town center. The entire trip can be done in about 2 hours so it's a convenient place to go on a short notice or sometime to kill. I hired one of the guys at my hotel and he took me there for 30k on his moped. Entrance fee to the cave is also 50k for foreigners. My hotel guy/ was not charged so he went in with me. You don't really need any guide as it's pretty self explanatory since it's just a cave with clear paths! Remember to bring a flashlight as the cave is pitch black once you go inside. Good thing I had my cell phone and we just used it as my light. Helmets are provided so use it to protect your noggin! otherwise you risk injury as some parts of the ceiling is low and the rocks are sharp!

    Nice enough but nothing special
Located not far from the town centre, the cave has a short but scenic walk to the entrance. Unfortunately we went in dry season when apparently it is less spectacular due to the absence of lakes inside (the name of the cave means reflection cave). A guide takes you through, the tour is not too long and taxing. Not bad for a quick visit but probably not worth going out of your way for.

Its ok but not great. No spiders.
Its a very short drive out of town. A little pricey for the guide but all money seems like it pays for maintenance and protection so that's good. Guide pretty good. Cave is pretty ordinary if you have done caves before. Nice helmets supplied...not smelly at all so may havebeen rereplaced since earlier review. The spiders are not spiders as they only have six legs so cannot be poisonous like other reviews have mentioned. The guides make a point of finding one as a bit of a point of interest but not that exciting unless you like big bugs. Not spiders. The mirror effect is not that cool either. Visit middle of day for best effect. Bring water. All in all not worth planning a big trip around but if you have time it's ok and I liked it. A little bit of bending which is fun to get through small bends so no good if you have a bad back or inflexible.
