Literary history comes to life in Kazakhstan
If you have ever read "Crime & Punishment" "Brothers Karamazov" "Notes from Underground" or "The Idiot" ... or any of his other many works ... this will be a fascinating visit for you. It was his home in seclusion during his exile from Russia. He was a leading Russian writer in the 19th century, and as so often happens his literary genius was not recognized -- or at least it was not appreciated -- during this time. He tormented life story is reflected in the tone of many of his novels. This museum shows the smallish rooms where he lived and worked; comfortable enough for the time. This is definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in novels, or Russian writers, or the 19th century contributions to world literature. It doesn't take long, but gives great depths of insight and contemplation.

Strictly of interest to Dostoyevsky enthusiasts only
The modern museum contains many artefacts related to his life and literature, but would hold the attention on an enthusiast only. Much more appealing to the casual visitor is the attached wooden house that was the original one that he lived in for several years. It can be seen within 10 minutes.
