Ethnographic Village

I visited the Ethnographic Village, a part of a larger complex with park, zoo, war memorials etc The ethnographic village represents the diversity of nationalities living in Kazakhstan, with replica of houses from many nationalities. The place looks well maintained, beautiful gardens outside each house and the exterior and interior showing unique character from each country. Unfortunately some of the houses were closed when I visited the place, nevertheless - it was worth every minute. There was a Jurt as well, and this was opened up to allow me to see it, a very nice exhibition inside. Certainly a “must see” when in Oskemen A huge thank you to the taxi driver Anton - who took me here - and who decided to come in with me - using Google Translate to explain where every house came from. As none of the description is in English and the staff don’t speak English - Anton made the difference between just walking around and actually understand what I was looking at

    An amazing place!
Absolutely a highlight of any guests' trip to our town. Such a long name was confusing even for me- a local person. This must b called just A Folk Village. This place is a must to visit for every traveller, since it offers so many amazing things: a folk village to represent households of all nations/nationalities living in KZ, WWII memorial, 3D entertainment, nice gazibos to do BBQ, japanese garden, zoo, a souvenior shop, nice small train journey or u can rent a bike! The founders and the staff did and still doing a great job to maintain this place! I would love a national song to b played in each house and add more money to the entrance fee to appreciate the efforts being taken to keep this place beautiful and nice. Thank u so much!

    Fascinating
There is little in this city that isn't interesting for the western traveler interested in central Asia formerly USSR. It's a treasure trove of historical memorabilia and just provides an incredible insight into a world previously forbidden to westerners. Only thing is much of it is not in English so it helps to have a guide to translate if you are super interested in reading the details. I recollect some fantastic communist posters and World War II- or should I say The Great Patriotic War which is what the Russians called WW2. Fascinating!
