Murals of the Wiregrass, Alabama, United States

4.5 (27 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #5 in Dothan Points of Interest & Landmarks

A drive-by art gallery

We originally came to Dothan for the peanut stuff, but the murals were a delightful surprise. To see them properly, go to the visitor’s center and get a free guide book, the drive up and down St Andrew street, stopping multiple times to see the dozens of building sized pieces of art. Definitely worth your time

Some of the Very Best Painted Wall Murals in the United States
Recently while travelling through Dothan, Alabama me and my friends decided to go downtown and check out the painted wall murals. We all enjoy great artwork and we had heard about all of the beautiful wall murals in Dothan, Alabama, so we decided to go see them. Our first stop was the "Visit Dothan" office to get a map locator of all the murals around town. We used this as our guide. In about 2 hours, we had found and photographed all of the Painted Wall murals in Downtown Dothan. They are really cool. Each mural depicts a story about the History of Dothan. Each one offers an amazing photo opportunity. The Artist is a guy named "Wes Harden", who is a local artist. What a great painter! This guy's artwork is amazing. If you are ever in Dothan, Alabama... I highly recommend that you set aside a couple of hours and walk, or drive around and find these art gems. This artwork has made the older part of town very appealing. On a scale of 1 to 10... I give this attraction a 12 !!!

    Go on a Holiday
We visited the area on a holiday and very few cars were in the area so we were able to slow down for longer looks and photos from the car. You can park on St. Andrews (at Main Street and St Andrews)and walk to see the murals...they are not spread out too terribly far, but I felt safer in the car with this being a downtown area in a city I was not familiar with. Some of the painted peanuts around town are in this area, too. Go to the Visitor Center for a brochure that shows where the murals are and where all the painted peanuts are around town. There are about 20 murals to find.
