    Very Popular
Door Peninsula Winery attracts customers (mostly couples and retirees) like Disneyland thrills young families. If you get behind one of several tour busses that unload - look out. Basically, get there early or you are not likely to find parking. Inside and out the winery displays wine, liquor, and gifts you are sure to love. The wait for the tasting room was long even around 11am so we moved on. They even have a spacious outdoor area now complete with fire pit and chairs. The staff is friendly, but they can quickly get overworked when people start to line up to check out. I'm not a wine drinker, but we always make it a point to stop in because we never know what we will find.

    Open on New Years Day
We were surprised to find this place open on the holiday. There weren't very many people there when we arrived in the late morning. The distillery area was closed, but the wine tasting and spirits tasting were combined at one bar. The wine samples are free for the tasting, but they charge you $2 a shot for the spirits. There were way too many choices of the wine and the ones we did try were all excellent. The prices were a little higher than the same brand wines we buy at our local grocery store, but here you can try them before you buy. Try that at Piggly Wiggly. This is a neat place to stop on your next trip to Door County.
