Cool view and experience on a hot day with gates open
It's almost like the ocean on a hot day with the cool spray and splash and waves lapping against the shore. There is even a slight salty scent in the air. The powerful water is mesmorizing. We'd never been before and visited both sides of the river. The Oklahoma side has a platform by the spillway where you can feel the cool spray and see and hear the forceful water up close.

Surprising!
My wife and I were going to the casino from Dallas when we noticed this "waterfall." We saw several cars parked and noticed people fishing. There were picnic tables and all in all, a truly surprising dam. The water is flowing at a rapid pace and it does look like a waterfall from afar. The Dam is right in the middle of the Texas/Oklahoma border. To see the "waterfall" up close you have to be in the Oklahoma side. Really nice stop to take photos and relax for a bit.

An Intriguing Site with Gates open.
Currently the flood gates are open with the sound of roaring water. Quite powerful to watch with such great force! The flood gates water flow in to the Red River. Also generates electricity. The fishing is good but not so great for swimming due to the rushing currents of the river especially with the gates open. Canoeing and kayaking on the river with the rush of water should only be done with an experience boater and always wearing a life jacket. Bird watching is in abundance due to the fish. The power of the water is to be respected!
