Sand Island Lighthouse, Alabama, United States
5.0 (4 reviews) Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #9 in Dauphin Island Lighthouses
Historic lighthouse still standing tall.
Took a trip with Captain Tommy Rachel of Gulf Boat Tours to see this lighthouse which is slowly losing the battle with the sea. The only way to visit this lighthouse is by boat although it can be seen from Fort Morgan on a clear day. Sand island was originally about 400 acres but the erosion of the sea has washed almost everything except the base of the lighthouse. Due to it's condition, visitors must remain in the boat. Hopefully this piece of maritime history will be preserved for future generations to see.

Beautiful view... so much history. I love getting to see lighthouses. I recommend everyone see it if they can.
