    Out of this world!
We took a private taxi from our hotel to the salt cathedral and it took about 7+ hours to do the whole tour. It was. 90 minute taxi ride from La Candelaria to the cathedral. Our taxi driver stopped for lunch before we entered the cathedral and we bought the tickets from the restaurant, they were the same price as at the cathedral. It saved us some time from waiting in line. He dropped us at the cathedral and we were given an English audio guide and followed it through the cathedral. It took us about 2 hours to appreciate the beauty and marvel at the architectural feat to complete this structure. We stopped by at the underground cafe before heading back to the taxi. The ride back took us 2 hours due to traffic. The cathedral has a strong odor of hydrogen sulphide, some places stronger than others. We kept our mask on the entire time so it did not bother us. The lighting and the work is so beautiful, never seen anything like this. I would highly recommend going here if you are in Bogota.

    Amazing Experience!
We took a day trip out to Zipaquira to see the Salt Cathedral on a random Tuesday. It opens at 9am and we arrived around 8:45am. It wasn't open yet, but there is a plaza area that you can walk around and sit in until it's open. You can rent an English audio guide from the ticket booths. You have to take a tour to go inside, but once you're inside, you can just wander off with your audio guide. Tours are in Spanish only. We waited to go in with the tour guide and then left to do our own exploring with the guide. To get through the entire mine with the audio guide it takes about 1.5 hours roughly. We opted to go for the basic ticket and not do any of the extra stuff. It was honestly very sufficient. The cathedral is truly amazing - I have no idea how people managed to carve all of these things out of a mine of salt!
