    Well worth a visit
A must visit site if you’re in Crete. We love this sort of history as a family and the site was not a disappointment. It’s bigger than we expected, a little disorganised and worth buying a guide book before you go in. Also, the queue for tickets was about an hour, so we bought tickets online (double ticket to include Heraklion Museum), this took just a minute and you can then walk straight in. Massive queue for the throne room so we didn’t wait as it was so hot and very exposed. Tours and guides everywhere and this made it difficult to see some of it because of the number of people, had to be patient. Really very busy in general. In a taxi later, the driver recommended going post 5pm when it’s quieter. Overall a great experience.

Nice visit to Kossos- would definitely recommend a guided tour
Long queue to get in, all the guides push in which is quite frustrating. Free car park next to it. We got a guided tour on arrival. We asked for an English guide and they told us to buy the tickets which I think were €15 each and then pay for the guided tour. They then told us the guided tour was €140!! We decided to not bother for that price. However we haggled said we could share with another family and got it from €140 to €50!! Anyway the guided tour was well worth it, marina was very knowledgeable and was great at asking the kids questions. My stepson of 12 loved it. The palace was interesting and loved learning more about Greek culture… I definitely don’t think we would have enjoyed it as much without the tour guide. If you get one though haggle and don’t take the first price! Also we are English so we had to pay more for tickets. All attractions kids are free for EU, but now kids are half adults price for non-uk.
