Interesting exhibitions - well worth a visit

Loved this museum and learned a lot while there about the history of the local area which was well contextualised against the backdrop of what was happening nationally at the time. Excellent resource and something the town should be proud of. Highly recommend (and it's free!)

    Worth if for the artifacts alone
    This is a really good spot for a bit of local history. While as a county museum, this does not have the resources or scale of national museums, it is still well worth a visit if you are interested in finding out a bit more about Co. Monaghan. The artifacts on display are normally excellent. I pop in here once every couple of years and I always recommend it to visitors.

    A Snippet of Local History
    A well laid out museum in an old building , in keeping with the history it was displaying. The displays started with Bronze Age artefacts, ending with the Irish War of Independence . Place was dimly lit , which made it quite relaxing to walk around , though those with poor eyesight might have found that a problem. Also as it is situated over three floors, accessed by a narrow staircase , anyone with mobility issues would have found it difficult to access. The building is in the middle of Monaghan Town , so it was easy to walk to from local car parks .
