The Shannon Pot, County Cavan, Ireland

Interesting visit
Located close to Blacklion Co Cavan, there is a car park and then a 5 minute walk through a field with lots of sheep to visit the Shannon pot. It’s essentially a small pool of water with a small stream running from it. Interesting visit if in the area.

A large pool, said to be the rising place of the Shannon.
A large pool, said to be the rising place of the Shannon. While the water obviously percolates throughout all the nearby hills and mountains, this is the place where the water first reaches the surface and stays there, and thus is the rising place of the largest river of Ireland.

Well signposted but hidden gem!
This is a lovely place to visit - we were driving towards Blacklion and just turned for the Shannon Pot on a whim. It's really beautiful with plenty of parking and stunning views!
