Echo Lake Park, Colorado, United States

Beautiful encounter with mother nature

The 10 miles drive from Idaho Springs at the end of March was safe and easy. The Echo Lodge right after the Lake is literally covered by ice, unreachable and so is the road to Mount Evans. You won't see the Lake since is frozen and because the recent snow is covered by a white blanket. Birds and a Squirrel asked for food. We saw a lot of Deers marks and poo. It was a nice, easy, short hike. Unexpected for us. Bathrooms were open.

    Magical hike at Echo Lake
Perfect early October hike. It felt like a Narnia experience walking between the Fall & Winter scenery. The 4 of us ( 2 adults & 2 dogs ) had an excellent time! Echo Lake was stunning. We saw our first ever in real life Moose. This trail/hike will forever shine in my memory.

    Beautiful Mountain Lake
Drove up to the Lake from Evergreen - about 50 minutes. The scenery was impressive as you climbed about 3000 feet. The lake itself was small and a bit disappointing - with not very clear water. The wonderful setting with the mountain background will provide some superb pictures. We couldn't take the path around the lake because of icy conditions due to a recent (and early) snowstorm. You can make the trip from Evergreen a loop by going on to Idaho Springs (a nice place for lunch) and taking I-70 back.
