Museo Provincial Simón Reyes, Ciego de Avila Province, Cuba

Municipal Museum in Moron

Would have missed this if the soldiers on guard outside this bright yellow building had not caught our eye. Small municipal museum requiring 1 CUC. Temporary exhibits, a few personal articles from some of Cuba's Revolutionary heroes, info on festivals, religion etc. I found most interesting part of museum was the architecture of the building itself. Would have liked some more on the revolution, personal lives of their leaders etc.

    Interesting I think!
We visited as part of an excursion. There are obviously very interesting artifacts but all the descriptions were in Spanish and therefore we could not understand the significance of what we were witnessing.

    Small but interesting
Despite it's Provincial Museum status, this place has the feel of a small town museum. It's not fancy or particularly well organized but it's genuine with many very interesting artifacts and displays. There's an intriguing display area celebrating the African contributions to the community. There's lots of pride in local war heroes and there's lots about Cuban history told from a local perspective. The museum is definitely worth scheduling 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
