Gorgeous collection carefully curated

This is a really special place, a gorgeous collection curated by an anthropologist with decades of experience working with Bolivian textile weavers. It’s carefully thought through. Reading the texts accompanying each textile, you notice that the weavings are becoming more complex over the course of the century, flourishing rather than dying out, due in no small part to the assistance this initiative gives to contemporary weavers in surrounding villages. This is the best place to buy weavings in sucre - it’s an ethical project. They are now reopen all day Monday to Saturday apart from lunchtimes, despite their website being down and info to the contrary on google search

    Take your time!
Very good and interesting museum if you want to know more about indigenous life, culture, history and art. They give you a book with extensive explanation in English corresponding with all you will see. That includes incredible fine and minuscule weaving patterns. In the book you wil not only find explanation on the meaning of the patterns but also about how mothers teach their daughters how to make this complicated work etc. On entrance the lady told me 45 minutes would be enough to see the museum. But they have (I think) 9 rooms, very interesting video's with music, dance and also explanation. So if you are really interested take about 3 hours to see this museum. Also the garden is lovely with beautiful views.

    Must see if in Sucre
This was so amazing and educational. I learned so much about Bolivia and their culture. The work is just stunning, but the info I learned was even better. The only issue we had was in knowing when the museum was open and it did close for lunch. It is set up high over the city.
