The Lost Waterfalls-Boquete, Chiriqui Province, Panama

4.5 (574 reviews) Saturday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #3 in Boquete Waterfalls

Beautiful experience

The Lost Waterfalls is a moderate to difficult hike through the cloud forest in western Panama to three fabulous waterfalls. The hike can take from one to three hours round trip depending on how many waterfalls you want to see. If you are lucky you may spot sloths, monkeys, quetzals or any number of the fascinating wildlife living in the cloud forest. We are open every day and you do not need reservations to hike. You do not need a guide, but there are lots of good guides in town who can make your hike more informative and fun.

    Great Hike
I am 61yo and about a 7/10 on the relative age to fitness scale. This was quite a climb. It is beautiful and well worth the effort but not recommended for those less fit or not used to altitudes Parts require use of a rope to incline and/or decline. The hike just to the pay station ($10) will determine if you should go any further.

    A wonderful nature experience
I'm rating it 5 stars based on what's available to do in Boquete, but 4 if compared to all areas. Muddy and somewhat strenuous at times like others have said. A great way to spend a morning or afternoon, especially if you've packed on some pounds being a lazy tourist. Shorter folks may have a harder time of it in some spots due to high stepping it. I can't say that I agree with other reviewers about wearing Tevas instead of hiking shoes because i just did that on another hike and started developing blisters. Also, unless there are a myriad of other waterfall hikes around Boquete, I can't say that I agree with the sentiment that you should save $10 to hike elsewhere. This is a memorable hike and a great way to convene with nature.
