Fabulous museum of art from the past century.

This museum features a surprisingly diverse collection of contemporary art from the past hundred years or so. They’ve divided the collection into Yugoslav artists and Montenegrin artists. The collection is really impressive and large, and if you’re an art lover you should plan to spend a couple of hours here.

    Our Lady of Philermos
    This is where the ancient, miracle-working icon of Our Lady of Philermos is currently kept, together with many other works of art (landscapes, portraits, abstracts, other icons...), but set apart in a chapel of its own. For centuries it was in the possession of the Knights of St John, who brought it with them after the fall of Rhodes to Malta. They still hold it precious. In the co-cathedral of St John, in Valletta, they show the side-chapel where the icon was kept.

    Really enjoyed.
    On the second floor of the National Museum, the Art Museum is very good. A great exhibit of candid photos of the Montenegrin Royal family taken late 1800s by a royal princess. After that, Yugoslav and Montenegrin classic art, a fabulous icon of Our Lady of Phileremo, and Modern and Contemporary artists. It was a treat and we really enjoyed it. It's bigger than it looks.
