Nice villa, a glimpse into 19th century life at Balaton

You don't have to know the famous Hungarian author to appreciate the exhibition. Certainly, his routine, books, personal belongings make it all the more interesting for fans, but just to see how intelligent, well-off people lived by Balaton 150 years ago can be entertaining and educative.

    Our greatest storyteller's villa
If you want to see where did Jokai Mor, Hungary's Dickens, write his most famous novel, The Goldman, come and sink into old times in this renovated, elegant villa and garden. Take a rest under the protected trees and imagine that you are in the 19th century.

Beautiful house but could not see certain rooms due to school group
I visited with my husband and daughter but we were able to see only half the beautiful house until a noisy school group descended like locusts. Our day turned from a quiet, peacefully restful afternoon to a noisy, unpleasant day. we were unable to view the parlor or a room to the side and could not even get out of the house because the kids were sitting in the parlor blocking the door. We milled around the kitchen area until we just walked through the middle of the group. My advice is NOT to go when school groups are in attendance.
