Szamos Marzipan Exhibition and Workshop, Central Hungary, Hungary

We returned after a year and again enjoyed it!

I am a marzipan lover and know how a quality marzepan should taste. I has already visited this place a year ago, but wanted to see it again. The objects are impressingly made, with a lot of precision, patience and craftsmanship. Most objects, small and large, are just amazing! An earlier review mentions that it looks like wax and I agree with that. Nevertheless, it is very lifelike. You can buy marzipan and other sweets in the shop. In order to appreciate the quality of the marzipan, I always test the pure substance, that is with its natural flavour, i.e. no added flavours and no chocolate cover. I was surprised (and disappointed) to see that they had no plain marzipan on sale. I remember that I had their plain marzipan a year ago and I gave it a 6 on the scale from 1 to 10. Not enough sugar and not enough almond. But I realise that this is a matter of taste... All in all, a lovely place to visit!

    Very good
This was something new for us. A bit like Madam Tussauds but marzipan rather than wax. The creations there are wonderfully and cleverly made, depicting anything from cactii to Michael Jackson to biblical scenes, all in great detail and colour. Take time to look at the detail and pause over coffee and cake at the adjacent cafe before heading further afield.

Szentendre .The artists village..and Marzipan wonder.
This is a village about an hour from Budapest by blue line train but also by boat...I would advise the boat ...It is a great relaxing experience and a beer or coffee or whatever is a great way to refresh you for a few hours in this Serbian village.. Apart from being filled with the usual touristic shops there are wonderful galleries and little coffee shops etc... The MARZIPAN MUSEUM is not to be missed but it is just one of the many sights of this unchanged village... Relaxing in the coffee shops and cafes on the water front would be my choice but there are many. I
