Incredible site…just magical

We loved this site. Tickets are only good on the day of purchase. We had booked a guided tour but decided to also explore on our own the afternoon before. The tickets for children under age 25 were 6 euro and it was 12 euro for adults. We walked around exploring the site on our own one evening, however, when you go without a guide, you do not learn about the site nor can you find where the oracle of Delphi would have been. We had booked a tour the next day and learned an incredible amount about the site through her. The views were just stunning and you could see why this location was chosen. The polygonal walls show that this site was very, very old and you will marvel at how they were able to build with such huge stones way up in the mountains. Words cannot do this place justice. Be sure to drive down to the Tholos to see the rest of the site. It is free to go there.

    A must visit!
Unbelievable ancient site and energy. The history of the place extends way back in time including 4 'sacred wars' and the ruins are well preserved with most important artifacts been in the museum. There is an impressive stadium at the top of the hill where in the ancient world the second most important sport games after Olympics were taking place called ''Pythia". Is a must visit especially 'off season' as is less warm, less crowdy and the ticket is cheaper as well.

    Dramatic Ruins
Amazing archaeological site in a wondrous setting in the hills. You get an immediate sense of the wonder of the place that pilgrims would have had. Entry 12 euros for adults, 6 for children – it covers the museum and the site in ne ticket. Some practicalities: the museum is about 300 meters distant to the site. Both areas have WC, but there’s no refreshments at the site itself. there’s also very little shade, and it will take about 45-90 minutes to do the whole site. The terrain is hilly and the ground uneven in places, and certainly no provision for wheelchair users or buggies. The gift shop is poor. Parking is available on the road outside. There is a separate section in the opposite direction at the museum and town where the Tholos is – this is definitely worth going to (you can drive down t it) but the terrain here is even worse than at the main site, so good shoes recommended. The town is a little drive away. The main site has some fascinating ruins including the Temple of Apollo where the Oracle herself breathed in vapours (?ethylene) to give her pronouncements. There are some interesting information bars as you go round, but best to spend 5 minutes before ging reading up on the site. The final part of the site is an extra 5–10-minute walk up the hill t the stadium – it’s apparently the nest preserved in Greece. I’d say it is worth the extra walk, but it’s quite a distance. Definitely go in the morning t avid heat and crowds.
