Cedar Key Beach, Florida, United States
3.5 (60 reviews) Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #14 in Cedar Key Beaches
Just ok
Cedar Key is a very small, quiet town. If you are used to vacationing in more commercialized areas, this will be very different. Very few restaurants and they close early. Many places closed during the week. A few quaint shops, but again, short "open" hours. Beaches reminded me of being on a lake, not the ocean. We stayed for 5 nights and got bored quickly. The only thing I really enjoyed were the birds and dolphins that are plentiful to see.

Old Fishing Village
There are only three or four restaurants in the area. They don’t take reservations, and everyone eats early to go to bed early so they can get out of the water early. Make sure you rent your rundown pontoon boat and golf cart well in advance.

Very small beach
We loved Cedar Key, but it is a fishing village, not a beach town. There is a very small beach with beautiful sand and a roped off swimming area. It has a very nice set of playground equipment and kids can enjoy playing in the sand. There is a spot nearby to rent a kayak. Having seen Cedar Key listed on-line as a good place to look for shells, I was very disappointed with this small strip of beach. Maybe I needed that kayak.
