A Popular Hike and a Summer Swim

El Salto de Poveda is 5 or 6 km down the road from Poveda to Travilla. If you drive down the road, past Poveda's petrol station, before you cross a bridge, there is a dirt track on the right with an information point, that takes you to "Salto de Poveda", a beautiful artificial waterfall and a popular hiking route (see pictures). You can park the car at the "Casas del Salto" public car park and go round the river following the marks and reading the information panels about the Geology and the wildlife. The hike is 5 km all around, but it can take you a full morning if you stop to enjoy the scenery and take pictures or to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Tajo, which are a bit cold, but when your body gets used to the new temperature, it is a lifetime experience you can't miss. There is a little restaurant at the Casas del Salto Cottages where you can have a drink or eat a meal for €13.50 to €20.

    Beautiful waterfall
Arrived by car until very near the waterfall. You need to drive some 5 kgs on a dirt road but it's easily done. Once you get to the parking where it's signalled the access to the Salto, you need to walk 2-3 minutes. Access is easy for someone with normal mobility but there's some high cliffs near the end although the way is secured with iron bars and a thick plastic rope thingie. Once you get to the waterfall itself, it's very beautiful although in my particular case I was at the level of the fall itself, so I felt a bit uneasy about getting wet, lose my balance and be dragged down to a fall of at least 3 meters. I was expecting to be able to get down to the level of the natural pool but not with this access. I took the south side access of the river to the Salto, which I believe is the one most people take because it's signalled. So in the end I felt a bit disappointed that the only place here where you can get wet is a tiny little pool at the level of the fall, which was taken by two persons

    Nice scenery, clear waters
Nice scenery, clear waters. On a sunny day, an enjoyment to lie down reading on the rocks next to the waterfall
