We loved the bustling port!
We had a wander round the port and harbour of El Jadida after lunch. From the ramparts, we could see that there was a lot of activity there, so were a bit nosey! It was a Sunday when we were there and though it was in the afternoon, the port was still very busy with fishing boats coming and going and vendors selling their catch. There were also some food stalls selling cooked fish. It was interesting observing the activities and there was also a nice view of the ramparts and the sea gate from the port. There was a guy sitting on a boat with his friends waving at me to take a picture of them and a few moments later, a fishermen waving me away when I was trying to take a picture of him and other fishermen reeling in a net - such is life! I would recommend anyone visiting El Jadida to have a look at the port area. The buildings there are pretty new, unlike in Essaouira, but it also felt a lot less stressful than the latter where the seagulls seemed to be flying really low in attack mode!!

La Port d'El Jadida, El Jadida
It's quite fascinating to see and hear the sailors and fishermen discussing their baskets of the daily fresh catch (including sardines and deep sea fish). It is very interesting watching the trawlers and fishing boats come and go throughout the day to provide fresh sea products for the souks and supermarkets of the city.
