A must see for history, culture and arts enthusiasts
This magnificent theatre was built in 1908-09 and recently underwent a massive restoration. It is so definitely worth a visit! You will need to book a tour. They do them in Spanish and English. On the only day we could go the only tour was in Spanish and we took it anyway as that's the only way you can look through the building. Our tour guide soon realised we weren't Spanish speaking, and she did a lovely job of briefly explaining key points to us in English. The building's interior is impressive, and the restoration means everything is in beautiful condition. One of the things that most impressed us was the fact that it was a very, very hot day and they have managed to air-condition a building with massively high ceilings. The outer rooms and corridors are beautiful, and you will be taken into the boxes to sit for a while during part of the tour. There is a very attractive cafe opposite the box office area where you buy tickets for the tours. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. Well worth a visit.

Teatro Colon Hour Tour
The tour guide was excellent and very informative and interesting. The Teatro is ,of course,Beautiful. It is well worth visiting. I wish I had seen an actual performance. I thought the Tour was not really long enough and we did have to work around a lot going on,as they were getting ready for an Opera in a couple of days. The Tour is Pricey in my opinion for just an hour in length,but as the Guide explained,the Tours help subsidise the Theatre,so if you keep that in mind,it makes you feel better about the price.
