This thousand year old historical monument is located in an natural setting on the shores of Lake Geneva in at the foot of the Alps in Switzerland. Individual or groups tours, unaccompanied, guided or with an audioguide are available. Chillon also organises exhibitions, artistic and popular performances, as well as concerts throughout the year. Open all year round (except January 1 and December 25).

The best castle is Switzerland
If you enjoy visiting historic buildings and castles in particular, Chillon is an absolute jewel. Easily accessible by train, it's one of the finest examples of medieval architecture to be found anywhere with intact battlements, five large furnished halls, numerous smaller rooms, cellars, turrets, several restored courtyards, and views of the Alps across the lake unchanged by any modern developments. You could breeze through the whole building in an hour if you're in a hurry, but it's definitely worth paying a few extra francs for the audioguide and staying for two hours for the full experience. Also, they bottle and sell their own wine - 10/10 would recommend

Visit to Chillon Castle
Really enjoyable and interesting visit. There is so much to see, the trip was laid out really well and very informative. Lots of people but it didn’t feel crowded and the surroundings are spectacular. Recommend the walk along the lakeside from Montreux to the castle, it’s about 45 minutes but all flat and so scenic and the view of the castle from the lakeside is beautiful.
