Interesting visit & exciting end !

We stopped here late afternoon as the sun was casting dramatic shadows on the volcanoes. We walked clockwise, which leaves the crater entrance till the end. On entering the crater we spotted a Falcon swooping round a white pigeon. I set my phone on a tripod on video record and moved away. It soon came back for his kill, however each time someone arrived he was scared off. Still very pleased with the short video. I'll attach some still pics. So a great little walk with an exciting end !

    Inside and around the crater
We came here as part of a morning’s guided hike in the area. This is the volcano that started all the eruptions in the 1730s and it is great to both walk around but particularly to go inside the crater. Excellent photo opportunities! Be aware that you most definitely need walking shoes/good trainers rather than walking sandals - I am a huge fan of the latter but the terrain is full of small stones and debris and just not suitable for anything except closed shoes.

Well worth a visit - nothing lost from not having a guide!
Really enjoyable, incredible to see close up. Having read the reviews, we took the left turn as we got to the volcano, taking the longer route around it, and finishing up in the crater. This was good, but with 2 kids in tow, and in the heat, did lead to a little moaning! After the initial view, the walk is a little repetitive. The total walk from the car park, left turn, all round, into/out of the crater and back to the car park was just over 2.5 miles. So not a huge walk, and I enjoyed it. However if you want a shorter route, simply turn right and you hit the crater pretty soon; this is the real peak of interest, so worth considering if you have kids or don't fancy the longer walk in the heat... Well worth the trip, incredible to imagine what it was like in 1730! The information boards along the trail are a little dry to say the least - reminded me of GCSE Geography. Car parking is relatively limited. There were 2 coaches parked when we arrived, and we got the penultimate space. This was around 10:30am in October. As we left, there were numerous cars seeking spaces and making some interesting and challenging manoeuvres to get parked!
