Brilliant view of crater

The walk took us a few hours we walked around the crater anticlockwise where as most I would say clockwise. Great view of the National Park from both sides of the crater. You will need to carry water and any refreshments you require. There is no shelter.

You need your head looking at if you give less than a 5 - and I'm no April Fool. First 2022 reviewer - surely NOT
I'm a big head. Ahh that caught your eye! No it's true, I am. But with good reason I reckon, having seen active volcanoes in Indonesia, New Zealand and South America to name but a few locations. But Caldera Blanca and it's little boy next door are right up there even though there's no smoke, fire, steam or the smell of bad eggs. Close to Tinajo, head off the main drag before you get to the Volcano Information Centre - worth a visit in itself. Half a mile along cinder tracks, park up and walk through a mile or so of lava. Helpful information boards give great background to the vulcanology and the history of this fascinating area. First up around the rim was the Baby Volcano, which is an easy climb, follow the edge and head down to the lava sea on the other side. A couple of hundred metres, pick up the main trail to VCB. The path is easy to follow and then wow what a bowl looking down, with superb views across the island. Really impressive and worth a couple of hours which we allowed for both rims up and down and we are old fat 60 year olds so don't let any kid tell you it's hard, coz it ain't!
