A treasure

This was a great day trip from Cajamarca. A fine facility and it is great that Peru kept the collection at the site and did not ship it off to Lima

    Try not to miss this
A long trip, 2 hours, along a bumpy twisty road even though it's asphalt but pitted by the mining trucks. Get down the road and visit this museum! It's 4 or 5 soles, but it still has some of the gold artifacts found at Condor House. Small, with a video in Spanish, but interesting to see history and learn about the excavation and discoveries over 2,000 years old. They even have a gold needle! Quite interesting and a prelude to the archaeological site on top of the hill.

Neat site but felt cheated by the restored stones
The trip from Cajamarca to Kuntur Wasi is a couple of hours but picturesque. Once there, the museum and site are very interesting. The museum has interesting artifacts and, when we were there, the museum employee was very friendly and informative. The walk to the site was pretty, with wonderful views of the mountains. The site itself is very interesting. My only disappointment was when my friend pointed out that the cordoned off stone with carvings, was, in fact, a fiberglass replica, given away by the hole in it. What a disappointment (and why cordon off a fake?).
