AVERAGE MALL-SIZED YANKEE CANDLE SHOP
On vacation in Massachusetts for a week, I spent one whole day at South Shore Plaza while my friend stayed home awaiting a delivery. While shopping on the lower level, I came to Yankee Candle. This was one of the chain’s average-sized mall stores. I stopped in to see what, if anything, was new. New fall merchandise was coming in. Some of the fall candles had names like Winding Mountain Trail, Apple Picking, Pumpkin Patch Treats, Rainy Day, and Cozy Fall Picnic. In the Halloween merchandise, there were skulls, bony hands, large and small pumpkins, owls, black candles, and more. There was even a Creepy Carnival line. I inquired about soy candles. Yankee Candle’s WoodWick brand was made with soy. It turned out that the brand was made with a mix of soy and paraffin. For air quality reasons, I wanted a pure soy or beeswax candle, so the paraffin was an undesirable ingredient. There was nothing exceptional about this Yankee Candle.
