A beautiful day

I took the tiny regional train that travels through the forest from Le Locle to Les Brenets; then I walked to the Saut; a couple of hundred meters before the waterfall I crossed the bridge that is also the border between Switzerland and France, and I climbed to the upper belvedere. It was beautiful. I went down to the lower belvedere that is impressive because you can stand on a small balcony above the waterfall. I went back along the river, always on the French side and I stopped at a restaurant the serves absynth, the traditional drink of the region (it is not dangerous for health in spite of what people say). In the end I crossed the border again through the bridge back to Switzerland and I took the boat back to Les Brenets. Fantastic day.

    Good day out
    We did this boat trip in the autumn so the scenery was stunning. It was a good family outing, about half an hour each way on the boat from the french side. They then announce what time the boats will be going back and you can decide how long you want to stay. There is a nice walk to the waterfall and stops on the way for a drink or an ice cream. It looked like there were other walks you could do around the waterfall but we didn't do those unfortunately. I would imagine in the summer they would be really busy so get there early to book your tickets. Tip: Not pram / wheelchair friendly and dogs are allowed (must be kept on leash)

    nice waterfall in the swiss jura
    Located between France and Switzerland you can do this easy hike (roundtrip around 90 minutes) from the port of Les Brenets. In summer boats can be used to cross the Lac des Brenets (very pittoresk). There are two trails, one on a broad trail and one very small trail along the cliff (classified as Chemin Dangereux), which I would only recommend to people who enjoyed hikes in the alps previously and who are not afraid of heights. The waterfall itself is nice both in summer and winter, although it is more impressive in winter. It can be viewed from the swiss side and two viewing points on the french side. The French side can be reached via crossing the bridge just after the end of the Lac des Brenets.
