Stenhuggerstien, Bornholm, Denmark

Stunning views to the sea on two sides!

The "Stenhuggersti" ("stonecutter path") is a relatively recently opened path to walk (about 2 hours). It starts at the parking lot of the Sandvig familie camping. It brings you through cliffs, through a meadow, often with sheep, and opens soon after the start for a beautiful view to the sea. Then you descend to sea level again, walk along the Hammersø (Hammer lake) and suddenly turn right, steep up into the cliffs (requires some minimum fitness to walk, not suited for baby carriages). After a rather steep ascent along a narrow path and some stairs, you arrive on a plateau with a magnificent view to the sea on the east, to the Hammerlake, to the sea on the west and to the Hammerhus ruin. This is definitely one of the best views, if not the best, you can get on Bornholm. After the following descent to the "Opalsø" (Blue-lake) and a walk to the Hammer harbour, please there taste a sandwich at Maries place, she makes the best sandwiches on the island. From there, return to the Sandvig camping lot along a flat path back along the Hammersø.
