this is amazing place
I can well remember the time this building was the swimming pool-spa area. after the reconstruction the space looks great, a lot of day light, nice facility – definitively place !must visit in Liberec” even for those who are not interested in any kind of art. The old-new building has so fabulous atmosphere…On Thursdays the entry is free what gives an occasion to come and see also for the students, traveling students, also the families coming to visit this place.

ART GALLERY IN THE LIBEREC TOWN SPA
During my December 2015 stay in Jablonec nad Nisou, I visisted my friend Vera who lives in nearby city of Liberec. I have not been to the center of Liberec for some years and it has changed in many good ways. Vera took me to Lidove Sady / Peoples Parks on a rainy afternoon. The new Picture Art Gallery is placed in the old Liberec Art Nouveau Franz Josef town spa. It stands opposite the Regional Museum, easily accessed by a tram from the Main railway station / or the Bus Station / or the Town center, on the way to Lidove Sady. I recommend a walk from the center on a dry day, about 1.5 - 2 kms max. The old spa renovations are superb and of the highest quality, combing the original style with modern architecture and interior design. The entrance fee is modest at 80 Czk per person, half priced for the over 60'ies. The staff are friendly, helpful and proud to work in such a beautiful Gallery. The entrance is free on Thursdays. Inside is a modern attractive Gallery Cafe. Outside the Gallery nearby you will find a restaurant and opposite is a small Patisserie Cafe, which was full during a working day afternoon, probably due to the bad weather. Vera and I enjoyed our coffee and honey cake in the Gallery Cafe. The Spa Gallery is only a few minutes walk from the Botanical and ZOO gardens. You can walk from the town center if you are fit, passing the Neogothic Town Hall. You will reach this area of many attractions and the SPA ART GALLERY will be on you right - GALERIE LAZNE - in about 20 / 30 minutes. The road is particularly attractive with Art Nouveau and Art Decor houses, most of them renovated.

Historical spa turned into an art space
Wonderfully reconstructed building with gallery featuring medieval and modern European art. Permanent exhibition is dedicated to Liebieg family, industrialists who remade Liberec from a sleepy village to the industrial center it is today. Thursdays are free.
