well worth your time and the entrance fee

The Old Town Hall is one of the most significant monuments in the Czech Republic. It was established in 1338 as the administrative seat for Prague's Old Town. Now, it is mainly used for the ceremonial purposes of the capital city, Prague. The historical town hall consists of a set of five medieval houses, the corner of which is adorned with a historical astronomical clock, a gothic oriel window and a massive rectangular tower. The lookout gallery on the town hall tower offers the most beautiful view of Prague. A tour of the historical halls in the Old Town Hall is a unique experience. The expensively decorated rooms date from various periods and are examples of the remarkable development of the town hall complex. The guided tours in various languages are organised in hourly intervals.

Coolest of the cool... don't miss it!
The Old Town Hall is one of the coolest attractions in one of the coolest cities in Europe! The Town Hall is a amalgamation of buildings, dominated by the medieval tower overlooking Old Town Square. The fabulous tower was completed in 1364 and has remained largely unchanged since then, making it one of the most authentic medieval structures in Europe. From the top of the tower, visitors enjoy great views of the city and can see the inner workings of the famous astronomical clock. The standard cost to ascend the tower and tour the Town Hall is 250 koruna (about $10), but they offer a discounted price for seniors of 150 koruna. Special tip: if you visit in the first hour after the Hall is open for tourists each day, there is a 50% reduction in the price (so seniors can actually enter for just 75 koruna). Of course, the ancient astronomical clock is the big attraction from the square and hundreds of tourists direct their cameras to the clock every hour. The current clock was constructed in the 1500s and has remained largley unchanged and functioning for five centuries. One additional positive feature of the Old Town Hall are the free toilets in the lower level (something sometimes difficult to find in Europe!).

Worth a visit especially early in day
Beautiful clock tower outside with a display every hour. While this lasts about one minute it's amazing to see the genius that was possible so long ago. The view from the top of the tower are fabulous. Although we didn't get there in time, the tickets are 50% cheaper if you buy within the first hour of the attraction opening so definitely worth getting there early.
