Evocative

On the Old Town side of Charles Bridge, this Gothic tower built in 1373 is flanked by sculptures of St Vitus and Charles IV. Open to the public,it offers excellent views of the Old Town and the Vltava River to visitors who climb the narrow staircase. The tower once displayed the heads of twelve Protestant leaders executed in 1621, and was also the site of the final conflict of the Thirty Years War (1618-1648).

    Impressive tower
This Gothic tower is guarding one end of Charles Bridge and the entrance to the Old Town. It was built by Emperor Charles IV according to designs by Petr Parler in the mid-14th century. For the great views, visitors must pay 150 CZK (6 euros) and climb 138 steps to the viewing gallery.

Beautiful entrace to the Charles Bridge
Old Town bridget tower is a beautiful entrace to the Charles bridge. With its statues of St. Vitus and King Charles, the tower dominates the entrance to the bridge and is a great meeting spot for lost members of your party. Make sure you pass through the gate to appreciate this 700+ year old structure.
