4.5 (51 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #1 in Usti nad Labem Region Speciality Museums

Excellent special museum for people, who love beer!

As museum it looks well organised, has very kind and well-receiving personnel and gave a good overview of the Czech hop growing industry in loco.

Big child’s playground and typical Czech kitchen
Not a mistake to go. Kids can play either inside or outside on very well equipped playground. Food is of a very good quality and combined with local home made beer you must be satisfied. Do no miss museum of beer next door!

Charming town not only for beer lovers
The town of Zatec, some 80 km from Prague, the centre of the hop-growing region, is certainly worth a visit not only by beer lovers. The town itself is very pretty, it has a lovely spacious main square with charming houses and various features which reflect the town’s main “valuable” – hops - throughout the town. There is even a mini hop garden in the town centre. The monastery garden has a lovely herb garden and peacocks, birds and black pigs. There is an area of the town near the main square which has been revitalized. The complex consists of several buildings including Hop museum, a mini brewery and the Hops and Beer Temple with its fun zone - a labyrinth of bags of hops and distorted images in mirrors. There is also an unusual astronomical clock – watch it on the hour as a suit of cards moves through the top window - and there is also a forty meters high “Hop lighthouse”, topped with seven steel tubes which is meant to resemble a hop garden. You can climb up for a good view of the town or you can go up in a lift in which you can watch a unique 3D projection (as if from a balloon or a rocket on the way and down. The guided tour ticket of the complex includes a pint of beer which you can then drink in the pleasant beer garden. I certainly recommend a visit.
