National Museum of Colombia, Bogota, Colombia

Morning Visit
Colombia's oldest museum holds a vast collection of archeological artifacts, as well as modern art. The building itself is interesting — it's a former prison and many of the galleries are inside former prison cells.

Morning Visit
Visited here for approximately three hours and still didn't have enough time. There is so much to see and learn about the history of Colombia (pre colonial to colonial/revolution and present day). Would visit again if given the opportunity!

Wonderful museum, but if you don’t speak Spanish you should get a guide to make the most of it.
This museum is housed in an old prison, and so its architecture and design is interesting in itself. There are lots of exhibits that explore the history of the museum, and what it means to be Colombian. But little is in English, so you have this vast wealth of artists and exhibits to see, but not able to properly appreciate them. If you don’t speak Spanish, best get a guide.
