Some of the best views on Earth.

Head to Mount Monserrate for some of the best views in Bogota at over 10,000 feet above sea level. You can get to the peak by riding a family-friendly train, taking a cable car, or taking a 1.5-mile hike through the Colombian forest. At the peak, the highlight is the impressive 17th-century monastery and pilgrimage site that overlooks the city. You can recharge at the hilltop cafe or explore the mountain’s open-air market, which sells Colombian crafts and souvenirs. You can check out Mount Monserrate on a tour of the Colombian capital, which typically includes a stop here. Visit early morning or late afternoon for cooler temperatures and fewer crowds. – Tripadvisor

Some of the best views on Earth.
Monserrate provides some of the best views of an urban metropolis that you can see without getting in a plane or helicopter. We went on a guided city tour which included our admission to the teleferico which takes you to the top of the mountain. The only downside to the experience is that lines are quite long to get on the cable car and there's only one going each way, so it can be quite a long wait if you go during peak hours. At the top, in addition to great pictures, there's overpriced food and tourist trap shops which I'd recommend avoiding and instead just shopping in Bogota city centre near the Plaza Bolivar.

    Fun activity!
We visited Monserrate on a Wednesday around 4pm. We wanted to be up there for sunset and then have dinner at San Isidro. The restaurant arranged for our cable car tickets, so we didn't actually have to buy them ourselves. The tickets can be purchased online though, so I would recommend doing that in advance as I've heard there can be a line during busy times. The ride up is very smooth and quick. You barely feel it. The trams run pretty frequently as well, so you never wait too long. The church at the top of the mount is pretty cool and there are a ton of nice viewpoints to see the city. It's amazing how big the city looks from up high. There are also food and souvenir shops further away from the church, so you can do some shopping while up top as well.
