The Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Facility at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is closed to the public until further notice. We are sorry for any inconvenience. This 20-acre coastal preserve is a destination you don’t want to miss! Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is surrounded by a rare remnant of tropical hardwood hammock, located on a barrier island in Boca Raton. Take a stroll through the butterfly garden, where many species of wild butterflies can be seen year-round. Walk the Ashley Trail and relax in the authentic Chiki overlooking the Intracoastal. View a variety of native fish and other marine animals that reside in marine aquariums. Visit the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Facility to learn about our sea turtle patients. Don't miss Florida Atlantic University's onsite laboratory with a gallery for viewing research projects conducted by university scientists. Gumbo Limo Review
Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is one of my favorite places to go when I am bored and just sitting at home. There no entry fee to get in and it is free to look through to see all the turtles and fish that they they have. Not only that but they also have a butterfly garden as a nature walk that you can just walk through and enjoy. Its located very close to Highland Beach and not t6o far from Deerfield beach. Its a great post beach or even pre beach activity to do.

Baby sea turtle hatching
At Gumbo Limbo, I just recently went to a nighttime sea turtle hatching where Gumbo Limbo allowed us to assist and watch roughly 200 baby sea turtles crawl and make their way to sea. Definitely recommend it for animal lovers out there or just looking for an incredibly unique experience. Would recommend not wearing bright clothes if going and turning off flash beforehand because you'll definitely be snapping photos the entire time!!
