Absolutely gorgeous
A series of beautiful pavilions comprise this Mongolian-Tibetan yellow-sect temple, which features an impressive fifty-four-foot high Buddha carved from one piece of Tibetan sandalwood.

Impressive Architecture
I visited Lama Temple on the last day of our trip to China in December 2019. We stayed in a Hutong just down the street and there were many small shops and eateries along the street outside Lama Temple. My kids were given student concession tickets so the visit for us was rather affordable. I had looked forward this visit since this used to be a residence of Emperor Yongzheng when he was still a prince. I watched the Chinese Drama, 步步惊心,and really liked the characters and drama itself. There were many people burning incense stick which you can collect for free, burn it and use it to pray. Although it was rather crowded in the morning, but we took it slow to enjoy the buildings with impressive and intricate carvings and the surroundings of the temple. Like the Forbidden City, this is a very lovely place to visit.

Beautiful Buddhist temple with high cultural and historical significance
An amazing Buddhist temple in the heart of Beijing. Beautiful temple complex was built in 1694. Formerly a prince's home, then a royal palace and finally becoming a temple in the mid-18 century. Lama Temple has beautiful grounds, amazing architecture and practicing monks. The architecture and layout of this place is really incredible, the giant sandalwood carved Buddha is particularly impressive. In this temple we can see also the bronze Buddhas of past, present, and future. Worth a visit if only to enjoy the peace and tranquility, and escape the noise of modern Beijing. One of my favorite spots in Beijing which I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone.
