Beautiful

Air Terjun Tegenungan is a beautiful natural waterfall located just a half-hour drive from Ubud. The lush greenery and picturesque falls are a great photo op to commemorate your trip to Bali. When the conditions are good, you can take a dip in the inviting pool at the base. For a bird's eye view of the falls, be sure to check out the viewpoint near the entrance. Also, note that there's a small fee to enter the waterfall. To make the most of your trip, take a guided tour to explore other waterfalls in Bali. And if you need a break, there are tourist shops and a day club nearby. – Tripadvisor

Easiest Water Fall to See When in Bali
Traveling with a family of four with college kids Decided to take a day trip to Ubud from Seminyak. We booked one of the many all day private tours offered from Seminyak area. As part of the tour we stopped at the Tegenungan Waterfall. Tegenungan Waterfall is a waterfall in Bali, Indonesia. It is located at the village of Tegenungan Kemenuh, also known as Kemenuh Village on the Petanu River in the Gianyar Regency, north from the capital Denpasar and close to the Balinese artist village of Ubud. Tegenungan Waterfall is considered the closest natural attraction of its kind that you can reach within a half-hour drive southeast from Ubud central. There is a charge to enter the Tegenungan Waterfall (which cost $20,000 IDR/$1.28 USD per person). Tegenungan waterfall is very overdeveloped and crowded with shops, restaurants, and tacky photo props. It’s turning into a bit of a tourist trap, however is beautiful nonetheless. The falls are only several minutes’ walk down the trail beyond the shops, where you’ll enjoy the impressively green valley panorama with the cascading water as a centerpiece. Several instagram photo spots are located along the way. Dense foliage frames the falls, and the water volume is impressive at almost any time of year, but normally at its strongest during the wet season (October to April). It only takes about 15 minutes to hike down the steps to the waterfall, but the way back up is a good workout with a lot of humidity and uneven stone steps. Two platforms connected by a bamboo bridge will give you the best view on the waterfall. You can pay another $10,000 IDR to get an amazing middle-level view and go one level higher to the top of the waterfall to overlook the whole area and have a different perspective from the falls. The waterfall is quite powerful, especially after rainy season. You can walk into the water until hip height a short distance before it gets deeper. There is a local restaurant/bar which is located at the base of the falls where you can buy drinks and food. It is a bit overpriced, however has a pool and nice counter area that looks out to the falls, This part of the tour I enjoyed the most and I wish it included more waterfalls. However, many of the other water falls are further up the mountain. Tibumana waterfall and Tukad Cepung waterfal are the next closest waterfalls located to Ubud, however we did not have to time to see within this tour.

    Close to the City Waterfall
The Tegenungan Waterfall is a very popular spot with locals & tourists as it is fairly close to the city, just 10 km outside Ubud. The waterfall is open from 6:30 am – 6:30 pm. However, the best times to enjoy it would be between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Visitors can park their cars at an open parking lot at IDR5,000. There is no charge for motorcyclists. Lockers & toilets are available but chargeable, as well. Walking a few steps ahead after getting our tickets, we were greeted by a very large signage of “Welcome to Tegenungan Waterfall”. Along the way to the waterfall were shops selling food, drinks, swimming paraphernalia & souvenirs. Since we were pressed for time & I had some ankle issues, we walked to a viewing point area or location. From there, we could see a full view of the Tegenungan Waterfall from afar. There were many people at the waterfall. We could also see a wedding photo opportunity taking place! We took quite a few photos of the waterfall in the background surrounded by a lot of greenery & rocks before leaving. It was quite surreal. I could almost feel the cooling water on my skin. The waterfall may be categorised as a small one but its gushing water is undoubtedly very strong. The water that plunges into the pool below is not very clear. However, it does provide a cool respite against the hot weather around the year. Since it is not very high, you can find thrill-seekers jumping off the cliff despite having prohibitive signs around. The water may not be deep enough to cushion the jump downwards. Further reading suggests that one must walk down approximately 150 concrete wide steps with safety rails before reaching the waterfall area. A restaurant with an open-air design has been built near the falls. There is also a large swing for insta-worthy photos which we had missed.
