    Definite Must-See
Definitely one of the must-see sights. Not so crowded when I was there this time. No 'guides' following you around everywhere (unless you request one) so free to wander. The other bug plus is no sellers trying to sell you everything from fridge magnets to sarongs at rip off prices. There is a short film explaining the temple's history, and some artworks to see also. All in all good value for the irp 30,000.- (half of the entrance for the rip off Pura Besakih). Highly recommended.

Going Up To The Spirit In The Sky
Taman Ayun Temple was our first stop on our Temples Tour organised by Discova, and definitely set the standard for what to expect from the rest of our day's adventures. The setting itself is beautiful; the quality of the craftsman and meticulous attention to detail of the temples, archways, statues and pagodas are simply breathtaking and every single feature of the temple feels exact, purposeful and placed with exquisite care and respect. It definitely helps that the temple grounds felt a lot quieter than others we'd previously visited in Bali; despite being situated off a main road, the second you enter the Temple grounds you feel this wave of calm and tranquillity wash over you. Our guide did a good job at explaining the significance of the statues, the costumes that play such an important role in Balinese dance, and even the importance of the differing heights of the temples. All in all we found the Taman Ayun Temple to be an exemplary example of exactly the kind of engaging and enlightening escape that such adventures endeavour to deliver.
