Seganing Waterfall, Bali, Indonesia

4.0 (16 reviews) Spent Ranking #19 in Nusa Penida Waterfalls

One of the best post in Nusa Penida

All alone in Nusa Penida.. This is the spot to do. It's a bit hard and "dangerous" to get there, but if you take your time, going slowly, nothing insurmontable. When you are down here, there is nobody, you have a small "natural pool" of pure water to get refresh after this long way down.

    Strenuous
Be warned! The journey from the starting point to the waterfall is no walk on the park. It's highly dangerous, there's no guarantee that the bamboo fence is stable. The knots would loose due to the continuous exposure to elements. The zig zag path to the waterfall is very steep, you're holding on to the limestone wall on your right and the bamboo fence on your left. Had the fence fell, you would literally dropped from the cliff. You are at the mercy of the man-made path which is not officially approved and checked by any government bodies. All you can do now is trust the skills of the locals and mesmerized by their ability to construct a path along the cliff. What a feat! I can only recommend this place for adventurous souls. If you are not adventurous and fit, go elsewhere. I'm serious. When you arrived, you are rewarded with cascading falls and a medium-sized pool enough to comfortably accommodate four people, while overlooking the breathtaking view of the vast blue ocean and huge waves hitting against the rocks. It's just jawdropping and a rare experience while majority of tourists are at Seminyak beach and Kelingking. The water is so cold and fresh, and complement the blazing hot weather in Nusa. There's another pool considered holy and there's a sign saying you are prohibited from dipping in there. No supervisors but I suggest you respect it. After all, you are going up and you don't want to mess with the spirits in Nusa. My wife and I underestimated the journey. We were oblivious of the arduous path. I had to assist her when we were going up. She almost fainted. I was worried as the weather could anytime turn from shine to rain. The longer we delay, the riskier it becomes! You have been warned. Good luck.

    Is it worth the trek?
The sketchy, scary, maybe dangerous trek down takes about 30 minutes. Once at the bottom the waterfall was average. Nothing compared to others seen in Ubud and the rest of South East Asia, with not much water running in it. The best thing about this sight is there is literally nobody else there because no one wants to make the journey.
