A very pretty and accessible waterfall

I visited today while on my way from Pemuteran to Sanur. It was a fairly easy 15 minute walk from the road. Entrance fee is 20k. Guides will approach you - if you don’t want a guide, please tell them firmly right away. If you would like a guide (they can take photos for you, mind your belongings as well as point out the local features) you can barter a fair price. Please remember that these guys have been doing it very tough over the past two years. A really pretty waterfall and easily accessible for most fitness levels.

Gitgit waterfall with Nice Local Guide explained a lot to the trees and spices grown there
We visited Gitgit during s north bali tour with s private driver. He already mentioned that we need to take a local guide from parking area. I read before that this might be a scam. When we arrived as expected a local guide asked us if we want to support local guide community. I asked him what this ment and he explained that they collect donation for the locals near gitgit waterfall to support the families and offer in exchange a local guide to the water fall. He mentioned it would be 200k IDR for 2 people including the entrance fee (which is about 20k pP i think) but if we don‘t want to is also ok. He was really calm and nice and they have a small booth where you can pay/ donate and get a recipe. This overall convinced me. Especially his attitude to just donate. At the end he was really nice because on the way he showed us all the different trees and played a guesswork what spices which tree gives. It was actually really nice to learn and see. On the way there are a lot different trees which give macadamia, cacao, vanilla, muskat, cloce, coffee etc. Of course some of them were imported maybe long time ago and are still there growing. The waterfall itself is also nice to see. It is really high and makes a lot of wind when the water drops to the ground, so its nice and chilly near the waterfall. The guide also made pictures of us and explained about the small temple there. On the way sureley there are some shops but there not aggressively selling. They just say hello and ask you if you want to look. We bought one small package Koriander Seeds and vanilla powder for 120k. You can trade with them and get it cheaper. At the end for me was fine to support them so I was fine with the price. On the top of the road there is also a small market with normal prices. After climbing up we really needed a coke and bottle of water (10k each). Its up to you if you want to believe and support them but for me they were nice to me and the guide showed us a lot of things on the way so I am fine with it.

    waterfall in Git Git village
i came here three weeks ago when i revisited North Bali in September. it is the second time i came here.first time was ten years ago, that time i didn't stay longer,so less impressed, this time i have chance revisit,i hope can stay longer.when arrived,a man asked me if i need a guide.he said he can take me to another waterfall, that is colek pamor waterfall,if i visite both,it costs 500,000rp, gitgit alone costs rp200,000, cuz i am alone, so i accept it.yes,no regret, cuz the guide not only helped me taking photos, also explained some knowledge about nature to me,and most importantly, take care of me,cuz i am not that young, especially colek pamor waterfall,it is a bit harder to go there by myself. after visited Colek Pamor, the guide brought me to Gitgit waterfall, the track much more harder.i meant from Colek Pamor to Gitgit. when reached at Gitgit, the weather looked not good,i just took some pics of it,and enjoy walking in the water. when raindrops falling on my head,we think it is the time to go,so we left. the guide asked me if i want to go to his wife shop to buy something,i always love to support locals,so i agreed. after shopping, the rain becoming more and more heavy, the guide’s wife lent me a big umbrella. and the guide called his friend ,asked him to tell my driver go to the entrance of Gitgit waterfall to pick me up.it is very nice and warm experience.there are five waterfalls in GitGit village, and this one opened to tourits in 1970S. compared to other new found waterfall, it might be not that great, but i think it has its own charms, and worth a visit.
