Ganggari Fastboat, Bali, Indonesia

2.5 (15 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Padangbai Ferries

Drunken crew

On the way back from Gili Air to Padangbai, most of the crew were drinking (a lot of) beer with a few passengers and making terrible noise, singing and partying. These people are supposed to be responsible of our safety. Luckily nothing bad happened.

    Not great, but not bad
Pickup from Kuta was on time, although the van they used had seen better days with no aircon. However, we got to the dock side office safely and were instructed to go to the boat side and wait. The wait was about an hour with numerous people trying to sell you anything/everything. The boat to Gili T was ok, not overly full and the trip was quite pleasant and smooth. Can’t say the same for coming back!! Really windy so the water was choppy and the journey back was a real eye opener – not for the faint hearted!! Can’t say we felt unsafe on the boat at any time but it is a bit dated. On arrival, back at Bali, you do have to watch out for the numerous people trying to convince you that their car was the right one to take back. Ignore them all, just collect your luggage and go back to the office. The crew do warn you about this but it’s still a bit full on. Our luggage was damaged on the trip back (maybe as I wanted to be first on and the rest of the luggage was flung onto my case) but there is no recourse to claim anything so watch out – I would recommend that if you are traveling as a couple/group, get your partner to go on first to secure great seats and wait till almost the last person before putting your bags forward. The whole trip from Kuta – Gili T – Kuta cost £65 (in total) for both of us. I would recommend Ganggari as we had no real issues but there may be better options so shop around.
