Beware of tourist trap at besakih!
Besakih is known as Mother of All Temples, with lots of ancient temples and architecture to be appreciated. There is an entrance fee to get in with a temple guide leading you and explaining to you about the area. However be super cautious when others in the temple offers help - especially to take picture using their mirror lense. We thanked the guy and we tipped him. Well, have some small change in your pocket and not let them see the amount of cash in your wallet. He asked for a tip of usd6 for each of us! for that 5 mins service. That was the first ridiculous ripoff! Second was that the so called temple guide brought us to another temple area and there was so called local priestest there. He suggested even if you are not local you can ask for her blessings without any mentioned on 'donation'. After the experience, he suggested that we should 'donate' at least Idr 1 million. The most ridiculous part was that both of them mentioned donation has to be sincere but they later demanded a minimum. The guide even asked us to go to ATM! Enough said - the ministry of tourism indonesia need to look into this. Super felt like a tourist trap and such holy place tainted by greedy locals. If there is a charge for service or experience have it up front. We reckon Lempuyang is a better place for picture ..honest locals.
