Left with a bad feeling

Do yourself a favor and skip this park. When I walked through it, I got the feeling the keepers do not care about the well being of the animals, but more on getting your money from you. The elephants seem overworked, and when we tried to ask about how they are treated, the keepers didn't seem to understand us (or didn't want to). There were a few monkeys there that you could hold, and the staff seemed to treat the monkeys quite harshly, forcing them to pose for photographs, by forcefully turning their heads and grabbing their arms. Just terrible. I wish I had skipped this tour alltogether.

    Mistreated elephants!
I wouldn't recommend going to Bakas for an elephant ride. Elephants were mistreated there, one of our elephants had 2 bleeding wholes on his head, where obviously the elephant keeper kept hitting elephant with a 'pick'. Elephant keepers weren't professional, nor seemed passionate about the elephants, which was very upsetting, especially after finding out that only 1 keeper is assigned to 1 elephant to form a partnership. We were really interested in the elephants and kept asking our keepers various questions. However, after the trip we compared the answers (it was 4 of us forming 2 groups with different elephants and keepers) and found out that most of the things keepers told about the elephants were lies. One of the keepers was really pushy about leaving him a tip too. On the other hand, the ride was very enjoyable and at the end we had the chance to feed the elephants and take pictures. Of course, you needed to buy fruit separately. The only thing that bothered me about the ride itself was filthy water in the pool that elephants go to.

    Bakas Levi Rafting elephant tour
The park was a serious disappointment. The 30 minute elephant ride was as expected but somewhat pricey. 'Ghandi' our elephant certainly enjoyed the post-ride basket of small oranges (expensive). The remaining animal exhibits were a major disappointmenmt. Baby apes in nappies which you could hold and be photographed with - at a cost - money up front. When not beeing rented seemed to be treated a little harshly by the handlers. Other mammals kept in 9-10 foot diameter concrete pens with little space to move in and nothing to do. This inc;luded an otter and several monkeys or apes on their own. Definitely not worth visiting if you care about animal welfare.
