Great family day out

Located a short distance from Palma Beach, this aquarium is one of the most popular attractions in the Balearics. With 55 tanks representing habitats across the Mediterranean and tropics, it houses the largest collection of live corals in Europe, as well as one of the deepest shark tanks—which you can view upclose through a glass-bottom boat or scuba diving experience. For something different, take a guided backstage tour to see how the aquarium is managed, and look out for special programs during the holidays that allow you to spend the night in the aquarium. – Tripadvisor

    A Really Lovely Place
We 3 seniors visited Palma Aquarium last week and had a brilliant time. There was so much to see and we were lucky to be there at feeding time so got to see the sharks and rays being fed which was great. The Palma Aquarium is linked into an ocean conservation organisation so if you get your photo taken at the start and then buy it later, the ten euros goes towards helping to keep the seas plastic free and to rescue animals that have been snared in it. They really do brilliant work there. Not only does the aquarium have extensive viewing areas inside, but also have a Mediterranean garden with other viewing areas outside. The aquarium is divided into different areas, such a Mediterranean, Jungle, etc so a wide range to species to see. The restaurant is also very good with nice food available at reasonable prices and a lovely play area for kids and a nice gift shop too. It would be great for a family visit - lots of kids there having a 'whale' of a time!! :-)

    Expensive
It was a nice aquarium with a good variety of fish, and of course the sharks were very impressive. We paid extra for the 'Giants of the Ocean' show, which was good but the whale noises during the show were extremely loud. It was also quite expensive, both getting into the aquarium and getting there. We travelled from Santa Ponsa, and the bus and taxi fares to get back and forth were far more than our research had suggested they would be. We were quoted approx €50 to €60 to get a taxi back to Santa Ponsa. We negotiated that down to €40, however, tracking the journey on Googlemaps on the way back it became obvious that the taxi was taking the long way back to justify the price, and it put us off having another day out in Palma, although it looked to be a beautiful place and I will look to stay in Palma if I ever go back to Mallorca.
