Quiet beach and upscale shopping
The Bal Harbor beach and neighborhood is the furthest north area on the Miami Beach island. It's pretty small and we stopped for a while while driving north on A1A. The beach is just the same as on south beach, but with almost no crowds, totally relaxing and peace. Across the road are lot of high end upscale fashion stores with never seen super model cars parked in front.

Unique Mall Upscale Shops
If you are looking for upscale shops (Versace, Chanel, Gucci...) then this is the place for you. The shops open to a lush open air courtyard. I believe there are three levels. It is anchored by Neiman Marcus on one end and Saks 5th Avenue on the other. While we did not buy anything because most, if not all, of the shops are avaliable in Dallas (why lug it all back home) we did enjoy the open air concept and glad we visited. Lunch at N/M was just okay. We should have tried somewhere else but it was cool that day so we did not want to dine al fresco. The other option would have been Hillstone but we have them in Dallas as well. In the end we should have gone there. But on the bright side, while eating lunch in the Zodiac Room, we were able to see a fashion show that was being put on for a women's group. So that was nice. I doubt we'll bother going back unless someone in our party wants to go.
