    A Gem of a Zoo !
This is a small zoo about 6 miles off of Rt. 495. It is perfect for young children as they don't need to walk for miles. There is a terrific playground outside the gates and a beautiful park - no charge! The admission is very reasonable. There is food available inside the gates and a seating area. We wandered around the zoo and saw many interesting animals in well-maintained settings. We loved the lemur villages on the islands. The rainforest was also very interesting. But the highlight was arriving at the splash park (near the entrance). This is one of the best splash parks that I have been to....and since my grandkids love splash parks we have been to many. It is shaded and there are benches for tired parents and grandparents. Great day trip.....wonderful place to visit with your family.

    Enjoyable small zoo.
The zoo is eight acres in size. Animals are from North & South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, North Korea, China and Russia. Since the day was sunny many animals stayed in their cages or pen a sleep in the sun. Several cages/pens were empty. Each visitor will receive a map at the admissions/gift shop. Not far from the gift shop are at least 12 picnic tables and a children's Splash Pad were children can wear bathing suits. Most animals will have an information stand that tells where the animal is from, what it eats and life expectancy. The is home to about 100 animals that represent 44 species. In just over an hour, that included28 photos I encountered the followed : Kangaroos, one Otter, two Meerkels, a Fennce Fox, a Water Monitor-some type of lizard from Southeast Asia, a Ruffed Lemui, two Goats, two Lions asleep in the sun, one or two Cranes from Manchuria, Korea and Japan, Alpacas, possible Red Panda, two Emy birds & an African Spurred Tortoise. There were exhibit that I didn't have an interest or were buildings that I I didn't enter. Other reviewers mentioned a lego display was not available or I just missed it. The zoo map can be misleading. Admission is $9.00 (13+) and all military (w/ID) being $4.75. Hours are 10:00 to 5:00. Since I visited in September, I am unable to say what the hours are in February. Parking is limited. To the west is an angled 18-20 lot, no charge, about a 10 minute walk through the Capron park. To the east of the zoo is a much larger lot. The lot to the west is 210 County Street if using a GPS unit. I suggest calling the zoo direct for the best parking. At most an hour & half at most if all cages are being used. I realize this review if for a small zoo, however I want a possible person to know what they are may encounter. A visit is recommended.
